Gordon Ingwersen

“A lifetime of woodworking experience, shaped by curiosity, craftsmanship, and hands-on mastery.”

Gordon is a California-based master furniture designer and builder with over 40 years of experience creating one-of-a-kind, handcrafted furniture. His passion for woodworking began early, sparked by childhood curiosity and hands-on exploration. As a young boy, he learned to see possibility in raw materials—turning discarded wooden orange crates into his first handmade creations.

Over the decades, Gordon has designed and built furniture across a wide range of forms and styles, developing deep technical knowledge alongside a strong design sensibility. His work is known for its bold presence, structural excellence, and attention to detail.

Today, Gordon focuses on designing and building custom statement furniture for residential and commercial spaces. Every piece is built entirely by hand, combining creative vision with precision craftsmanship to deliver furniture that elevates a space and reflects the beautiful spirit of each project.

Maker’s Statement

Every piece begins with listening.

Custom furniture isn’t about trends or templates—it’s about understanding how a space is lived in, how it should feel, and what it’s meant to hold. Gordon designs each piece from the inside out, guided by the client’s vision, the character of the materials, and a deep respect for craftsmanship.

Working with wood is both an art and a conversation. Each board has its own grain, strength, and story. By designing and building every piece by hand, Gordon allows the material to guide the process rather than forcing it into a mold.

From Sketch to Structure

Every piece begins in the workshop — where structure is studied, material is tested, and proportion is refined.

The result is furniture that is visually striking, functional, and made to endure. These are pieces meant to be lived with, gathered around, and appreciated for decades.

Why Custom Matters

Mass-produced furniture is built to fit warehouses—not lives.

Custom furniture is different. It’s designed for a specific space, a specific purpose, and a specific person. When Gordon creates a piece, there’s no separation between design and craftsmanship—every detail is intentional, from proportion and function to finish and feel.

Clients often come after feeling let down by “custom” pieces that missed the mark. By overseeing both the design and the build, Gordon ensures the final piece fully reflects the original vision—without compromise.

Custom furniture isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about longevity, integrity, and connection. When something is made specifically for you, it doesn’t just fill a space—it elevates it.
